Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Stranded VR6 for sale.

It is with great sadness that I think it's time to let my little mate go.

It took me a few months of patiently waiting and a trip to sydney to find a VR that I actually wanted.

It's a 94 model VR6, manual, with 220,000 odd kms on the clock. I have owned the car for 2.5 years and in that time I have replaced the following:
Shock absorbers, bushes, windscreen, water pump, front pads and discs, front wheel bearings, and the clutch. Though confusingly the clutch pressure plate or so has just failed after 35,000 kms of driving which I am very annoyed about and has brought about its current stagnate state.
I do not wish to have the aggravation of getting it replaced which is why I'm offering to sell it, if I don't sell it soon, I probably will end up fixing it so get in now before I change my mind.

The other bad news is the Heater Core is bypassed and the AC doesn't work, nor the ABS. All the windows work but there is a small cable required to get the passenger window fully operational again.

The good news is the car is stock standard and straight. It has some of the original options and other goodies as well: Original front fog lights, 10 stack CD player in the boot and Colour concept (BBS Solitude) alloys as well as the originals.

I am selling the car without Rego unless you can think of a better arrangement as it is currently registered.

The way I see it is, if you go to the expense of spending maybe $2000 for clutch kit replacement and do the timing chains and guides as well, you know you'll have a very strong and long lasting little car again.

    $2800ono.
