I have a 1996 Mk3 GL Classic Auto with light interior which will be on the market soon. Done ~125,000km, I bought the car 2 years ago with about with 64,000km on the clock and have been driving it between Melbourne and Geelong each day, hence the jump in Km's, but all highway km's obviously. Being very honest here, I've kept the car maintained but the paint is average for its age, interior is still good. The car has been reliable for me and I have not had any issues beyond normal for a car of its age (Compared to 2 powersteering racks, a starter motor, 2 alternators, a diff, clutch cylinders and a complete block in an E30 BMW which I have spent many hours working on lol). I'm selling as a change in jobs means I will be driving for less than 12 minutes round trip per day which I think the GTI can handle or I can walk to work.

Parts replaced in my time with the little workhorse:
Cam Belt
Coil Pack (Thanks Pete)
Oil Pressure Sender
Rocker cover gasket (it was more annoying than an issue)
Fuel Pump (Thanks Tim)
Both Rear Window Regulators (In progress, home renovation has taken priority, can complete or reduce price, new regs are $145 each from VW)
90% tyres on the front, 50% on rear.
Brake discs are hardly worn.

I'm looking for around the $5800 mark, its the Green Mk3 colour with Alloys.

The car really needs cams, a supercharger and a 2.5" straight through exhaust though

Well there are lots of mk3's but I reckon if you want an older car that's been driven by someone who is particular about the car (hence being on a forum) then carsales is a bit of a gamble which isn't what the OP is looking for by my reading of the post.
