  • NSW WTB: MK5 Golf GTI

    Hi,

I am looking for an MK5 Golf GTI, i am looking at the lower end of the market (i.e low 20's) so not too fussy on the options, don't really care what trans it is. the only requirement is that its not red.

i'll travel for the right car.

    Cheers,
    Jesse..

good luck, i think you will find it really hard to find a golf gti in the low 20s, even cars with 70-100km on it are going in the mid - high 20s.

    On carsales there are 2...

    1. 2005 91500km $23500...
    2. 2005 161000km!! $22500...

Anything with a decent amount of KMs, would be above 25k.

Should check if all the major services been done. Not just in the past, but in the near future. There are alot of things to be done for a 100,000km/4 years car.

I'm not exactly sure what needs to be done to be exact (but browse through the forum)... from a brief glance in the past, you would need cam belt changed, check the tires (it could be pretty slick), something to do with dsg gearbox, brake pads, brake fluids, water pump etc etc.

Those could set you back a few thousand as well.

Thanks for the heads up den... The car is due for a service which includes the timing belt and water pump. Its a manual so no concerns about DSG and im fairly sure the pads and rotors will be due soon as he has never changed them (it seems the car has mostly done freeway kms).

My local vw stealership have quoted me 1.5k for all that.. But ill be going to an independant vw mechanic so it maybe less. Either way ive still factored it in and feel that even after those service items have been done its probably the best buy at the moment for that money.
