QLD WTB: Mk2/Mk3 Gti or VR6

I'm after a Golf as above - a Gti or VR6.
I've got about 8k to spend.
Car must be in good condition (preferably rego and roadworthy)
It has to be P plate legal.
Manual trans would be nice.
I think that's about it - so throw me whatever you've got!

Fly down, drive it up, maintain it until you're off your P's, then drop in a 1.8t or vr6 engine.

edit: Or get it transported to Brisbane, I think it's $600-$1k iirc?? Someone had their mk1 Golf moved.

I might consider going interstate soonish - but for now I'd rather something local (Brisbane area) so I can have a look and a test drive etc. Cheers for the replies though guys - that mk2 colour is gorgeous I love it! And the Bora wheels look fantastic on your vr6 dom

that looks like a good buy at that price - if you were in Brissy I'd be very very keen. However it's hard to buy a car that's so far away, good luck with the sale though I hope it doesn't last long at that price!
