Let me know a serious offer.
Here's a rare one for sale. How come nobody is buying it?

because most mk1 enthusiasts are poor.... Matts GTI is worth every penny anyone is willing to pay for it, but most people dont wanna spend serious money on a mk1... for purely practical reasons - why spend the same on a mk1 than you would spend on a nice mk3 or 4 (for a daily).

but for the collector (of which there are few in aus) i'm sure it (and a few other cars being talked about here) are very worth the money.

Thanks mate, glad you appreciate it.

Most VW owners seem to be tightarse types who want a good car at a bargain price.

I dont need to sell this and I will never be able to have another one, so I wont sell it a a bargain basement price.

I also like driving it and have room in the shed for it, so meh there it is.
Open to offers though if there are any serious buyers out there.

Maybe because a GTI is a better drive

This may sound strange, but it is my experience of going from a Mk3 GL, which was in great condition, to a Mk1 GTI as a daily driver. Remember, we are not talking about any old Mk1, a GTI is a far superior drive to the ordinary Mk1.
