Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Ahhhh. Crap.

Don't want to do this, but i really need to stop messing around with other cars and finish my 31. I've spent too much on it as a project to stop and start on something else, this golf is by far the most awesome car i've owned. I didn't think it would gain much attention, but i have people asking me everywhere i go, what the hell it is. Lol. I really have enjoyed the short time i've owned it.

But alas, once my 31 is finished i would like to lead a normal life (Be able to afford to get more tattoos!), at least for a little while, until im off my P's.

So, all that have seen the pics of this car or even seen the car at nats last year, You know how tough it is! You know how clean it is!

Anyways since owning it, it hasn't spent a night outside, it hasn't been drivin in the rain in my hands and its been babied around and carefully cleaned.

    Problems?
Right hand indicator light does not flash and front right hand indicator does not come on (rear comes on fine, and left hand opperates as per usual.

Needs new speedo cable, speed floats around then find its speed, i've been using a GPS but it should be an easy fix anyway.

Wipers stopped opperating about a day after i got it, probably a fuse, i've been working flat out and haven't had a chance to have a look yet.

Sunroof has small scratches where it apparently got jammed before i owned it, i have since lubricated it and had no troubles! No leaks either!!!

    Specs:
    - Engine has been replaced with a 1990 K-Jet Audi 3A 2.0L
(115.0 bhp) 168.0 Nm of Torque. Roughly 150k -160k on engine.
    - 5 Speed Manual Gearbox.
    - Central locking with a 3-point immobiliser and alarm
    - Extractors & 2 Inch sports exhaust, front to back. Sounds awesome.
    - Full working Sun Roof.
    - Mk3 GL brakes with front and rear discs.
    - Full strip down & re-spray in Platinum Grey Metallic ( 2008 ) (Factory Jetta, AudiTT Colour).
    - Interior has 2 new front seats and original back seats
    - JOM Coilovers front and rear, from Venom Motorsport UK (Made in Germany).
    - Genuine G60 Flares and GTI Side Skirts.
    - Skinny Door moldings + GTI Badges.
    - Front and rear Big Bumper conversion.
    - BBS RS 16x7 Front & 16x8 Rear rims.
    - Polished Front Strut Brace.
    - Dual Lamp Grill conversion + Red pin stripe.
    - Momo 280mm Team wheel from Germany with Boss kit.
    - Fully working MFA. Outside Temp, Water Temp, Avg MPH etc.
    - Smoked Indicators + Clear Tail Lights
    - Deleted/Shaved rear wiper

Well its far from a GT-R. But its something i need to finish, i've always had plans for a 31, and never followed through with them. I'm sure i'll regret the sale of the golf one day when it is worth some serious cash, but not as much as i'd regret selling the 31, its too reliable, too comfortable and too practical just to pass up for a small car like the golf. I'd like to do some traveling/ road trips toward the end of the year and not knowing anything about how to repair the golf, finding it difficult to fit anything more than a couple of shopping bags in, and not to mention the firm suspension (Fine for driving an hour or so but 6 hours would kill me). It's a car that needs to be garaged and driven on the weekend, sure you could drive it everyday if you wanted to, but i think its special and warrants a bit less use then that.

Wasn't the original owner asking between 8k-11k? I wouldn't imagine you would have offered more than 8k for it if he gave that range of asking price.

Beautiful car, no denying that. But not many people have 10 grand to spend on a Mk2. I sure don't.
