Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SOLD MK1 Golf GTI

82 model year (Sept 81 build date) 1.6 GTI, close ratio 5 speed with eager engine makes this a great driving combination. Originally delivered to Singapore and imported to Australia in 2006, she has never seen a salted road as all the UK delivered cars have. Matching numbers car with VW ‘birth certificate’ to authenticate the above. I have used the car as a daily at times during the 8 years I’ve looked after her with the focus on getting it reliable, she has never not got me home in 20,000 kms!

    Engine
Head was rebuilt by PO with Schrick 40 x 35 valves (original 38 x 31)

Superpro poly bushes all round (except engine mounts)

    GTI Leather steering wheel

    Interior
Dashboard replaced with perfect 93 cabriolet one, and recoloured by Bus’N’Bug in Melbourne
    NOS gauge surround
    Front door pockets are missing
Carpet is original but bare on the rear passenger side
    Worn through driver’s upper bolster

      Looks in reasonable nick.
Don't know about that price, but they are getting hard to find.
Shame about the sunroof, otherwise I may have had a closer look and tried to low ball you.
Friend of mine has a hard on for one of these, will show it to him in the morning and see if he is interested.

There's not many in Aus, even less unmolested.

        What's wrong with sunroofs?
