Hi Guys,

I've just had a chat to the guys at VW and they're saying that we might be getting a mechanical handbrake in the GTI for some reason... What are your opinions? any thoughts? The petition for the mechanical one starts here...

Have inherited my brother-in-law's Golf with grinding noises when in gear and moving (most concerning in 1st & 2nd).

VW quoted $19K for a 'new' box. And spending $9k to have the box rebuilt in Victoria is also out of the question....
