Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Made in china isnt really a problem. I think engineered in china is where the trouble starts!

I agree with Tim, whereby the engineering will determine the final reliability. Modern production methodologies and performance monitoring systems are far superior to when the Made in China rubber dogpoo factories began. And just like when BWM jv'ed into China, their 3 and 5 series models are still running around just as reliably as the earlier European made units.

Ouch, German engineering is great its their design which is overcomplicated. Pretty soon the Chinese will copy this design and make it their own without reference to VW, just like they copy everthing else

As long as they make profit now, that's what they care about the most.

All MK4 R32s are made in slovakia. and they are still very reliable. So, as someone said above, these countries are just putting cars together, not engieneering them

Americans bitching about Chinese build quality - I laughed. You bought anything that is 'refined' and made in the USA?
