Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Replacing Oil Pan for MKV Golf GTI

    Hey guys,

Need urgent help here please. Feeling like **** now. Must have been dreaming!

I've carelessly driven one wheel over a kerb while turning - just moving off so luckily not too fast, about 10kmh. When I got home, i checked the undercarriage and it seems like there is drops of oil leaking out from the oil pan (i think). Drip rate is about 1 drop per 5 min, there there seem to be 2 cracks. 1 from each side of a plug.

    Two questions I've got.

    1) Would this be repairable (seal up the hole with some kind of sealant, weld them together, etc)? Or would I need a new one?

    2) How much does it cost to repair or for a new one plus labour?

    Thanks!
