  • Non-powder fire extinguishers

Been reading about replacements for BCF fire extinguishers, since powder ones are known to leave *such* a mess.....

Three compounds are FAA approved since 2010, but not being used because they are half or a third less effective concentration-wise, compared to BCF.

Of the two that are half as effective as BCF, one is a lot less toxic, HFC-236fa by DuPont, branded as FE-36. As far as I can find, there is only one manufacturer of portable extinguishers using FE-36. Ansul brands FE-36 as "Cleanguard".

Ansul dealers are listed here http://www.ansul.com/en/Distributor/LookUp_Dist_int.asp.

Wondering if anyone has one of the Ansul Cleanguard 2.5lb portable extinguishers (with vehicle bracket), how much they paid and where they got it. (US prices are $150-200 for reference, and you can't get one from OS unless you know someone who can put it on a slow boat...).
