  • 103 TDI versus 132 TDI

I have gone back thru several pages, and can no longer find a few comments comparing 103 with 132. I also did a search on "132" and it comes up with no results. What I am wondering is whether 132 is worth the extra.

I test-drove the 103, (132 was not available) and thought there was noticable engine vibration at idle on start-up. Noise levels were low on smoth tarmack, but increased significantly on course-chip roads at speed. Acceleration with fine for regular driving, but not much in reserve.

I read a review on 132 that says the jorno visited a VW work-shop and was told that 132 has extra balance shafts compared to 103, and also extra oil channels for engine cooling.

What I am wondering is: is 132 a more refined engine in terms of vibration at idle? Is the ride quieter on 132 due to its 17" Dunlop SP tyres, compared to commercial tyres of 103's 16"s? What about the extra performance?
