Cray cray problem with the GTI (DSG) over the last couple of days- bloody impossible to extract the key from the ignition barrel once the car is off. The ignition will not move into 'off' position, so the key is locked in. You're basically stuck with the car, not wanting to leave it alone with the key in the ignition. After ten minutes of fairly rough, violent key jiggling the ignition will move to 'off' and you can eventually remove the key.
It's definitely not the steering column lock. Took it into the always-helpful OPVW in Perth today and was advised my gear selector mechanism requires replacing- they've ordered one. Sounds like the part that mechanically translates a gear selection action into a gearbox action is not pushing the vehicle into park correctly, or fully?
Anyone had something similar with a Mk6?
