I bought these door sill scuff plates for my GTI: Door sill scuff plate For VW GOLF 4 6 MK6 MK4 GTI 09-2011 MK4 1999-2005 | eBay
Installation was generally straight forward and easy. However, trying to get them to align properly takes a bit of trial and error and there lies my problem. The scuff plates are attached to the door sills via automotive 3M tapes.
On one of the door sills, I missed aligned slightly at the front tip, so I tried to pull it out and realign but it was already half stuck to the sill. This caused the sill plate to bend slightly at the tip.
I managed to realign and pressed them in firmly thinking it's all good. However, while washing the car over the weekend, I noticed the slightly bent tip sticking out of the sill!
Does anyone know what I can use to stick this back in as the 3M tape on the underside obviously isn't strong enough to counter the bending force of the stainless steel plate?
