  • I think ive ****ed the elecrics in my car 😭

Today i was stuffing around with a ****ed amp that i should have just thrown in the bin..
I had it connected to the car with the stereo running and the amp open with test light in hand. I was poking around with the test light trying to figure out why i had power to the amp as the light was on but the sub was not working..i know the problem was with the amp because i have another that works but has problems..
So anyway as im poking the test light around i hit something that sparks..my stereo cuts out for 15 secs then comes back on..i think to myself don't touch that again..then very foolishly touch the coils when i should have left it at that...when i touched the coils the part that sparked sizzled smoked hard core then bust into flame..****ting myself i blew out the flame and ripped the power cable from the amp..the stereo also went out and back on again..
I turned it all off and went to the bonnet to stry solve another problem my drl's were no working anymore i found a fuse in the harness was blown..i removed it and walked over to my tool box to find a fuse..
The ignition was one so i could test power for the lights..
Then the car just starts dinging and clicking..didn't sound good so i rushed over and saw all the lights spazzing out on the dash..turned off the ignition and back on again with it still spazing out..
Now my car wont start and all the elecrics are spazzing out..
I can't plug my diagnostic tool in as the cars ignition needs to be on to get a link..
All this happened about 10 mins after the fire in the amp but im sure it must have been a power surge i just hope i didnt fry anything..

The stereo still works and interior lights work as well as brake lights but not headlights and the headlight switch courses all sorts of weird things to happen.. Car still wont start..

I really hope it is as simple as a fuse or relay somewhere..
If anyone could help with some info would be greatly appreciated as i need to get to work on Monday...

Have a look at the big fuses on the front of the E-box in the engine bay.

Worst case, you've probably fried the Central Electrics Control Module under the dash.

I've checked the fuses and the relay at the fuse box under the hood.

I can't find where this CECM is in the car though?
Tried googling it with no luck

How was that amp powered? Did it have a fuse of its own?
How much charge is in the battery? You may have flattened the battery while messing about and that is why the car wont start. Maybe enough power for some basic lights but not much else.

Yes the amp power cable has a 60 amp fuse near the battery and it's still fine..
Battery definitely isn't flat i wasn't running it for long and its a good sized battery still green for good..

I can't turn the key without elecrics spazzing out and everything flashing
Saying things like airbag fault on the display

The spazzing is what made me think the battery has an issue cause that is what happens when they go flat.
Check the voltage with a multimeter; you want 12.0v at least, 12.8v would be better.

Remove the amp cable from the battery to isolate that issue.

I'm not sure where you are located, 'Australia' is a big place, but have you thought about a call to a roadside assistance provider ?
