My question is, well first let me catch you up as to why I am asking my question. I just installed an aftermarket android head unit into my car that came with its own canbus unit (was told its made by connect2 but can't certify that) anyhow my issue is that the canbus doesn't keep the radio on once the key is turned off of engine on selection. It will. Cycle the 'acccessory wire' whenever I open / close a door or open/close a window.
So my idea was go move the accessory line off the radio and run it directly to the ignition. I recall reading someplace that there is a wire on the ignition harness that has power at it until the key is removed. My guess is its the wire that controls the lock on the key. So my question is, does anyone know what colour wire this is? As the last thing I want to do is remove my airbag, tear my steering apart then turn the ignition on to find out which wire this is & cause major issues with my airbag system.*
Any help would be greatly appreciated!*
My alternative idea, which is a less clean install is to run a bypass switch to the built in bypass harness on the radio which overrides the canbus, however would like to try the ignition first.
