  • Warning – do not use tm tuning

Just letting everyone know not to order anything from TMTuning as it appears they may be in trouble and you will lose your money as I just have. I ordered a $220 part from TMTuning (R32 Pedal set) and after 3 months of excuses as to why I hadn’t received it I got this reply:

    “Hello Paul,

thank you for your email and apologies for any latency responding.

We thank you for your order but we must regrettably inform you that we will not be able to fill your order at this time. Due to supply changes in our market and company restructure the order shipment will be delayed longer than we would consider acceptable. Therefore, unfortunately the only thing we can suggest at this time is to look for another dealer and or shop to order the item in question - and or - return to us at a later time when the new site and product selection has been re-established.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we are sorry for the trouble, hopefully we can make it up to you next time!
Thank you again for your understanding,

    TM Tuning”

No mention of refunding the $220 and no response to my multiple demands for a refund.

Of course I can’t make a paypal claim now because its outside 45 days. I guess this was bound to happen eventually given how much gear I buy from overseas. Makes me really angry.

    Be Warned!

Please pass this on to any other VW, AUDi or BMW or forums in the world you might be a member of. I have posted on VWWatercooled, VWGolfnet, golfmkv.com, vwvortex and r32OC.com.

After them taking 3 months to deliver a number of items I refused to buy off them again - they were in stock.

This is uncanny... The same thing has happened to me too.

I ordered a headlight switch ($100) in March and it simply never arrived. They've been saying it's stuck in customs but when I say I think it's been lost in the mail they go cold. I payed for AirPlus shipping which you think would have tracking and be registered mail but apparently not! Their site says it comes with insurance but they haven't replied to that either.

I was considering ordering it again but with the courier option but now I think I'll just steer clear. Thanks for the heads up

Yes I got the exact same email after 3-4 months too. I had to fight for 6 weeks to get a refund. They made up some bs story about how they don't keep funds in their PayPal account.

I started sending emails daily until I got refunded.

Thanks for the warning, I'm in the market for some Jetta front bumper parts and was just doing some research this weekend.

TM are now officially off my shopping list.

Thanks for the warning Paul, I was about to order the S6 DRL and a couple of the other bits for the R32 today. Luckily I didn't!
I'll have to look elsewhere. I hope you get your money back.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. ordered intercooler end of March and after much delay, they said they would send it via priority mail as soon as they receive it. Last reply I received 3 weeks ago said that it would be dispatched the next day via priority courier.

Been 3 weeks now and not even a tracking number with the priority mail.

Buyer beware, perhaps steer clear of Tmtuning.

Sad to hear that, although I'm surprised many people still go with TM Tuning, they don't have that big of a range and I find them to be overpriced, add that to poor customer service reputation and you wonder how they get their business.

Sorry to highjack the thread, but where would you guys recommend purchasing something like a Jetta front grille, is there an Ausssie source other than a dealer?

Depending how fussy you are, you may get a good used one from a wrecker but...ALWAYS GET PRICE FROM DEALER FIRST. I once had a wrecker try to sell me something more expensive than a brand new part from dealer.

If no luck locally, EBAY is your best friend. I had a quick look and a new one can be had for around $100 delivered to your door from overseas.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

Agreed. ALWAYS try the dealer first.

They aren't always that expensive. There's plenty of cowboys out there that prey on those that avoid dealerships, charging the same, if not more.

Yeah I must admit I've done the looking online only to go and find it cheaper from the dealer plus no shipping costs when items have had to come from Germany. The price they give you over the parts counter is all you pay. Plus after you've got a few items I've found that they tend to look after you a little better.

Also helps to know someone, or are someone that works at a dealership.

                            You can usually save 10-20%.

                              Thanks gents,

I'll give my local dealer a call tomorrow.

I wish I knew someone at a dealership but I'm relatively new to the VW scene.
