Hi everyone, as a current owner of a Passat TDI with DSG (which I love), i'm looking to add a Mk5 GTI or GT to the garage. However after reading all of the issues, DSG gearbox or mechatronics or AirCon Pump etc that seem to happen to the GTI's and the costs involved its left me a little scared. The reality is i would be buying one with probably 100k on the clock and out of VW warranty.
Are these issues are fairly rare or a very common issue. I understand people are more likly to vent when things go wrong as opposed to when there are no problems, but its hard to tell from what i've read. I've driven a few GTI's and love them, but i dont want a money pit of a car. and yes i'm still trying to work out if a newer GT or slightly older GTI is the way to go (seems to be about the same price) - any advice would be great
