Rear end rattle

My wife's Golf has had an annoying rattle somewhere in the rear - not loud but persistent. I finally went searching and narrowed it down to the hatch mounted reversing light assembly. What I found was that the concentric reflector within this light was loose. It appears to be located via a large number small lugs around its perimeter, but it is not accessable, being within the outer lens and the back plate. These two components appear to be glued together.
My solution was to apply hot melt glue to several of the locating lugs on the reflector. Presto! no more rattle.
