I've got a Bluefin reflash in GT TDI ( manual ) and was wondering on what changes other GT owners with the bluefin have been honestly experiencing
I must say that when I first changed the map I didn't really experience that mind blowing difference that most people on the forums were raving on about. Maybe I felt a bit more power in first gear but Im pretty sure I was just trying to convince myself that my money was well spent. I actually returned it back to standard to see the difference and honestly didn't find a big difference. Certainly didn't feel like an extra 22kw and 50nm of torque. I mentioned this to Bluefin in the UK and they prepared a new map for me and asked me to try the new one out.
Well....not sure what they did but that one made a difference for sure. All of a sudden I can't keep traction in the thing. 1st gear is pretty much useless , you get nothing but wheel spin with anything more than 1/4 throttle and with 2nd gear you can't give more than 1/2 throttle without the tyres firing up. I love this new power increase but I did found it came with a few niggles .
The car is now more often idling at around 980rpm rather than the usual 800rpm. I gather that this might just be the cars regeneration process kicking in to try and regenerate the Diesel Particulate filter. Maybe with the new map the car is producing a lot more soot and therefore requies a more often regeneration process. This is probably normal so I’m not too concerned but I have noticed a bit more vibration in the car when I’m stationary and at idle ( doesn’t matter if it’s at 980rpm or 800rpm ) . The idle or engine doesn’t sound rough but you can feel subtle little tremors randomly going through the seat of the car. Its almost like the feeling you get when you’re sitting in your car on a windy day and car shakes a bit? Also there seems to be a spot where the power isn’t very smooth at around 1800rpm. You can only feel this with very light acceleration like when crawling through traffic in first gear, as it passes the 1800rpm spot its almost like it hits a power dip for a split second and then the power comes back on it ( a bit like the turbo suddenly kicking in ). You can’t seem to feel this under normal acceleration and certainly can’t feel it with Wide open throttle. Also, the car is drinking quite a bit more diesel now – not that I was expecting any miracles but whereas I used to average about 5.8 – 6.0 l/100km I now can’t get any lower than 6.5l/100km. Like I said I’m not too concerned with this as I’m happy to burn a bit more fuel for the extra horses that I’ve gained just a little concerned that maybe the car isn’t running right?
Anyone else have a similar experience?
