  • F96 Barometric Altitude Sensor

As promised here is the problem I recently dealt with. It must be a part that does not fail often because I have never read about it on any forums until I actively started searching for information.

However, this sensor is a CRITICAL part of the AGU that has a dramatic effect on air/fuel mixture if it is malfunctioning.

    What symptoms did I experience:
    • Shocking fuel economy - 425km
    • Top end power reduced
    • Onset of boost was minimal
    • Could not drive car around with windows down because of fuel fumes.

I also had the following VAGCOM error:
    00528 - Barometric Pressure (Altitude) Sensor (F96) 06-00 - Signal too High

    How to test the sensor?
Reference: quattroworld.com Forums: F96 Altitude/Barometric Pressure Sensor Information (impacts performance at higher altitudes)

Get a decent Multi-meter and check for the following approximate values. These values taken from a known good F96 sensor. If the values are out my hundreds of ohms then it might not be registering the correct altitude and affecting maximum boost pressure. From the reference link, it seems like the ohms reading for '1 & 2' most important.
    Pins : (ohms)
    1 & 2: 1200
    1 & 3: 2610
    2 & 3: 2410

My sensor is broken/inaccurate..what should i do
