Hi all,
I am a new '94 Golf VR6 owner and love it, but it seems I bought a lemon. Car is pretty good apart from the auto box which I now see a bit of research could have told me is not a reliable unit... Mine drops out of top gear on the slightest acceleration, all other gears are fine, and seems to only happen when at normal operating temp. This started happening about a week after I bought it (went from previous owner driving in burbs to me driving in country hills) Unless a simple fluid and filter change fixes the problem I am inclined to convert to a manual box. Anybody have all the parts necessary for this conversion, or recommend a good source? Happy to do the work myself.
Any recommendations on the auto problem (apart from change to manual box..) would be appreciated.
