  • Nate’s caged Mk1 16v

Nate has asked me to post up some pics of his caged Mk1 16v project on the forums Although there are a few little things he needs to do to finish it off, it was registered at the end of last week and has been roaring around the streets of Hobart ever since

Here it is when originally purchased from Ed C a couple of years ago:

Here it is now after Nate has put his spin on things:

      Looks clean!

I'm not 100% sold on those tail lights with that colour though but perhaps it'll grow on me. Looks like he's done a good job on it from the photos. Thumbs up!

edit: Love the dash - that looks way cool!

Lovin the colour, could it be one of the various shades of Audi Nimbus grey? They do about 3 different ones. Hard to tell on the computer screen. Its a colour i've been tempted with for ages for mine tho.

Loving it. The color is sweeeet. A set of thouse cf bumpers would be mint, would also probly cost a mint too.

Scrap the dash, leave a tach and a couple or recaros hehe

It does look very much like Aviator Grey from the Audi TT, but it is actually not a factory colour It’s one of those colours that always looks different in photographs. Despite being painted in acrylic, it has buffed up really well

                            Aviator Grey Audi TT:

Nate still has plenty planned for the car, so it is far from finished and he still needs to sort out the front spoiler, side trim and a few other bits and pieces inside. I’m sure addressing the ride height will be on his agenda at some stage down the track

The car is running a 1.8 16v with Piper cams, extractors and a full 2.5 inch system. The motor was originally in my Mk1 GTI way back and used a Scirocco manifold to take advantage of the existing k-jet set-up. It gets along really well and is more than sufficient for the light Mk1 shell.
