  • New Cabrio A little advice needed

    Hi Everyone,

Good to see a Golf site up in Oz, been into Mk 1's for ages and moved to Melbourne from the UK about 5 years ago - gutted there's not lots of Mk 1 GTI's around to play with

Anyways, I picked up a Mk1 93 Convertible in very good condition (1 lady owner from new), its been off the road for a while (12 months) due to travel and renovations etc - would love some advice on the following:

    1) After a long period of no use - what area's should i pay extra attention to when putting it back on the road? I..I'm thinking brake lines and rubber hoses breaking down...etc

Its been under cover so really its just from a mechanical perspective

    2) Also on the styling front...the front of the car is slightly higher than the back, does this mean i should drop the front more than the back to get a flat lowered look?

3)The car has the Karmann kit on it, I'm wondering what the max drop i could get away with before having to start grinding out the arches etc? I still want some comfort so maybe max is not exactly what i'm after -

I'm going to go for 16's as i think 17's may be too much of a stretch etc

    4) do i have to order my single light grill / eyebrow spoiler from the UK / Europe? or is there a local shop around (Melbourne)

5)Also from my understanding these little babies are impossible to tune up, is there anything i can do to make it quicker?

Any help in any of these area's would be greatly appreciated - and keep the faith!!
