Hi all,
My name is Jono, I am from Sydney and looking at putting an order on a new Rocco R soon.
So currently driving an XR5 turbo with a few mods (tbe, cooler, intake, tune) and lease will end next march. So I am starting to look at options for end of lease, and place an order if need be to secure something for next year.
I am looking for something with a bit more of a 'sporty' feel than the typical hot hatches, so found myself drawn to the look and driving position of the Rocco. I have taken the megane RS250 out for a spin back to back with the Rocco and preferred the VW as it just felt more fun at lower speeds. The car will be a daily drive, and the mrs doesnt like manual so a DSG box is appealing. The megane felt like to have the most fun in it you needed to really get into it, or have it on a race track.
The rocco I found felt fun to just roll around the streets in. Its smooth and sounds good, responsive enough and I like the driving position.
I had a 2008 audi S3 so the engine felt familiar, although the rocco feels more nimble and more fun to drive. I was impressed with the FWD, it seems well sorted, at least at stock power. The S3 had APR stage 2 so it was a little more energetic!
I am after a black Rocco with sunroof, and speaking to the dealer I would need to put an order in for a new one as nothing is floating around with that spec. I would want a 2013 build so looking at around april ish delivery which works fine for me with the lease timing.
So my only reluctance to put an order down is that there is a baby coming in october! I have no idea how that is going to change life so I may just need to wait.
We have another 4door car which will cart the baby around 90% of the time, but I would like to be able to take it in the rocco occasionally. I even took the pram over to the dealer and it fits in the boot.... just.
The other thing I wonder about too is what kind of prices the Rocs will be at next year, if I order now there doesn't seem to be much in the way of discounts... but to get the spec I want I will need to get the ball rolling.
Being a reasonably old model now I am not sure If I should be grabbing one so late in the cycle, with the new golf/a3 platform out next year maybe a new lighter rocc will follow?
Anyway I have a few specific questions which I will open other posts for.
cheers, Jono.
