Hi,
I'm looking to install an aftermarket amp and speakers for a new GTI. I don't have a real time analyser to check if the Head Unit (HU) outputs and was after some info on the following:
1. Does the HU output a flat response or have VW built in a frequency curve to protect the stock speakers/improve sound?
2. Is the speaker level output from the HU full range for each channel or filtered?
The answers will help me determine if I need to use a sound processor to correct the frequency curve and/or add in channel summation to create a full range signal for my new amp.
Just off-hand is anyone aware of a signal processor that has downloadable profiles for a VW? Reading about the processors available many aim for a flat curve on the assumption that the manufacturers setup is to protect the equipment.... but in some cases it may be to off-set peaks or nulls created by the vehicle layout. Profiles can help a lot with this.
I don't have a lot of experience with car audio so the advice will be very welcome. My background in this is all in cinema and room acoustic/design
