I got the RNS510 DAB+ and it is frickin awesome in Melbourne. So many radio stations, latest hits from the 80's and 90's, I love it!! Worth the $2000

you need a new hw revision for dab. i installed one sourced from europe into my b7 passat, we simply ran the fakra cable down to the b pillar connected to a bit of stripped cat6 cable. i do have the factory antenna splitter for the antenna however i am yet to install, it performs with my macgyver antenna very well.

Dab+ is not available on Australian units EXCEPT for the very latest ones which are possibly not here yet.

If the info says DAB 255 in the config it means its not available according to a reply by Kamold the other day.

A search through threads from past two weeks would have revealed this one

No, but £799 beats €1600 - and at that price the traffic advisory button would still do nothing here in Aust..

I read that only these units have the following part number are DAB+ specific.

1t0035686c or d. c for inbuilt with western maps or a d on the end for eastern maps. As you have pointed out in the above photo it's got to have an antenna connector at the top of the unit. RNS510's of today don't have that extra.

Found one on eBay this afternoon - VW RNS510 C DAB 2013 RNS 510 MFD3 V10 MAP Navigation Golf Passat Tiguan Sirocco | eBay

Not a cheap unit as you can see guys

Ouch. Bit x$y for now. What life does the RNS510 have if the mk7 doesnt accept it in its dash? Worried it might be on its way out...
