Arrows on steering wheel controls both iPod and MFD at same time ?

Hi,

When I am playing music from my iPod I change tracks with the arrows on the steering wheel. At the same time however the options in the MFD change too (for example from Driving Time to Current Fuel Consumption), how can I make sure this doesn't happen ?

FYI I have the standard radio that came with the 2008 GTi.
