Hey guys,
Dont know if this is a silly question or not. I have recently purchased a MY06 golf gti with the mfd2 satnav system. It is currently running v12 of the sensis map software
Previously i have used a garmin portable gps.
I have to say, using the satnav seems a major step backwards compared to what im used to (no spoken street names, 3d maps, lane assist etc.).
I do realise that this is quite an old unit in comparison to the garmin i was using. I was just wondering if this was correctable by purchasing the new maps? Or whether the new maps will give exactly the same functionality, just with some updates to streets etc? I know the portable units have come an awful long way since 2005 (when i believe the v12 software was released) and was just wondering whether the sat nav systems can be upgraded to offer similar functionality to their portable brethren? I would be hesitant to spend the $350 odd on the software update to find it offered very little in terms of updates, and the local vw dealership hasnt been much help at all.
