Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Golf R32 Bumper Replacement

    Hi Everyone,

I've managed to damage my bumper. Again. Clever huh? This morning I was parking my car at the railway station only to hear that awful cracking noise. I instantly knew that I had just scraped my bumper over the small concrete stopper at the end of the parking space. I'm now left with a bumper that's only hanging on by the centre clips, ripped from the car on both sides!

Given that this is now the second time I've done this sort of thing (first time was on my super awkward driveway), I think it's time for a replacement. I've had a look online today and can't seem to find much. Ebay, second hand parts dealers, even some of the recommended providers or parts for sale on these forums don't seem to be of much use to me.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this (so apologies if it's not), but any direction that you might be able to point me in for spare parts would be greatly appreciated. I don't know enough about this car yet to give back to the community with knowledge, but I can & will document the process of replacing the bumper and post it back here for any one else in the future.

    Model: Golf R32
    Year: 2006
    Series: MK5
    Colour: Blue

    Thanks!
    George.
