Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Melb: Need Painting advice

    Hi all,

    Im after some advice.

Long story short.. I have a silver polo that hit a kangaroo. I needed a guard, bonnet, headlight and indicator etc etc but just drove it anwyway after replacing the lighting components. I'm now going to give the car to a friend of mine for his 18th birthday, so i want to kind of fix it up a little. i've got a 2nd hand guard on there but as its 2nd hand the colour match is not the greatest, and i cannot for love nor money find a bonnet in silver so I was looking at either buying a new aftermarket taiwaneese one ($220 + post), 2nd hand VW one($230+ post) or even a brand new VW one ($440)

I got a quotes of about $600 to spray it along with the guard which starts to get up there price wise.

Soooo, can anyone suggest of a relatively cheap (everything is relative when it comes to cars ... to spray a bonnet or know of anyone that would be willing to do the job for some cash money? If so, I also have a brand new drivers guard that i bought but never had painted which could be done at the same time? Im not really fussed about any blending or what not, just something that is close to what it was I have a shed that it could be done in, or happy to drive the parts to you along with the old bonnet and guard to see the colour etc.

any assistance / guidance / offers / numbers would be appreciated
My Car(s): 2011 6R TSI Comfortline (Pepper Silver),
If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)
Working...
