  • Dark Arrow (tmavá šipka) - an evolution. Part II

seems it's time for a proper build thread detailing everything done to my vRS so far, so here goes.

This was my brand new MY12 black DSG Skoda Octavia vRS wagon just off the boat in November 2011. With 2.0 TSI K03 specs, and most of the interior, exactly as per a mk6 Golf GTI .. but unlike the GTI it included a 30GB HDD, satnav, partial leather seats, and loads more boot space. It was also ~$5k less than a GTI

The first thing I wanted to do, apart from install the SB throttle controller, was hide the very noticeable chrome grill and get a front splitter installed .. so after a quick trip to the panel beater and a day spent at Grafico to vinyl wrap the grill, roof rails and door handles this was how she scrubbed up.

Next came a set of KW V3 coilovers and some Rays VR G2 18x8 matt black wheels ... and an ecu remap of course.

in Feb 2012 it was time for a new cat-back exhaust (Milltek non-resonated) .. the car went from barely audible to very audible.

A month later it was time for another treatment at the Grafico car day spa. I had the headlights done with a carbon & smoke vinyl combo, and the some matt black vinyl was applied to the mirror covers.

Around the same time, I decided that I needed to get a dyno baseline. It was a baseline I could certainly live with.

then my ITG Maxogen intake arrived

    this was what it replaced:

    - 2006 Audi B7 RS4 sedan, black, APR supercharged
    - 2008 Audi B7 RS4 avant, silver -- 2002 Audi B5 S4 vagwagon, ming blue
    - MY12 OCTAVIA vRS Wagon | DSG | revo | Eurojet DP | Milltek catback | KW V3's | 18x9 -45 Rays VR G2's | 18x8.5 -45 A8 Flat Fives | Kumho KU36 245/35 | Superpro ALK | ECS Stage 3 BBK | ECS eng mount | ITG Maxogen | DTM front splitter | SB

Shortly after I had the front guards rolled a few sections cut out of the front and rear as per below to make room for wider wheels.

in June 2012 I finally got around to getting the engine mount changed to a red ECS version, and I had these beautiful ladies mounted at the same time:

    .. then I commenced my training: wheel-whoring 101. Here we have a set of 18x8.5 et45 A8 Flat Fives

come July it was time to replace the oem gear with a set of shiny Superpro alloy control arms and bushes to help out at the track:

Now what use is a family wagon without a missile launcher ??

October 2012 - I couldn't wait any longer for Milltek to finish R&D on their downpipe, so on went a Eurojet mk6 Golf DP and stage 2 tune, then it was up to Winton for a day of jedi training where I managed 1:50.1

November saw the arrival of my keenly-awaited 18x9 et45 versions of the Rays VR G2's. Rubber was changed from Hankook RS3 235/40 to Kumho KU36 235/40, both of which have a very decent amount of soft-compound sticky grip while also coping pretty well in the wet.

    .. to be continued.

          Best Skoda I've ever seen
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

I'll second that. Might be tempted to make a few mods myself now once I get my hands on the new model in a year or two.

That just looks amazing. Oh now do I keep the luxo look of the Superb or to dump and kit it (I don't think it would work in silver).
