  • Dark Arrow (tmavá šipka) - an evolution.

"Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny." - Yoda.

ok time for a bit of a story .. here goes:

Well, previously not having had much to do with anything but stock cars, the most fun car that I'd had in the past was a Peugeot 206 GTI (even attended a cruise or two in it!).

Fast forward ten years or so and the missus wanted to ditch her current Pug 308 1.6 Turbo for something a little more fun. I spotted an article talking about the upcoming Golf 35, so I promptly sent wifey to test drive the GTI and R to see where the middle-ground was and hopefully get an idea of what the 35 might be like. Turned out the sales guy had no idea about the 35 and refused any kind of deposit for one - wtf!? Anyway it didn't matter - she now had nothing but the Golf R in her sights, hehe :> :>

It took quite a few phone calls to track down a car with the specs we wanted, but eventually found one waiting at the docks - woot! One week after delivery the car had an APR remap and carbonio installed. Then in August 2011 I decided to start an event thread for a cruise - and Dave brought along his yellow beast of a pre-facelift Octavia vRS .. and with it, the beginning of the end for my family SUV.

Attended my first Garage Cafe meet shortly after, where I completed two crash courses in the one evening: non-resonated exhaust appreciation, and advanced wheel whoring (Fab was the lead instructor I seem to recall).

After a month or two of nothing but craving another drive of the wife's R (which had turned into a monster post-tune imo), I decided to ditch the boring Holden V6 SUV kiddy taxi in favour of a significantly more spirited (and VAG!) kiddy taxi .. cue the Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0 TSI/K03 - a mk6 GTI in all but name (and looks), albeit with more room, and for less $$$

So, without much dealer stock around I put a deposit on a car that was just about to leave the factory, and only had to wait a couple of months to get my hands on her. In the meantime Stefan and Simon got writing over at VWG about their 600HP revo monster Golf R's, which eventually led me to James and Raymond at Audvolks who in December 2011 threw a set of KW V3's on my new beastie and gave her a remap - happy days!

With her newfound stance, sexy wheels, and some vinyl wrapping .. the visual transformation was complete. As for the rest .. the story continues.

    mods so far are:

    - kiddy seats x 2
    - Final Inspection detail and paint protection
    - full window tint
    - 12" sub and amp
    - black carbon wrapping
    - front splitter
    - 18x8 Volk Racing G2's in matt black
    - 235/40R18 Nitto NT05's
    - KW V3 coilovers + drop
    - stage 1 revo tune
    - Milltek cat-back
    - ITG Maxogen intake
    - ECS torque arm insert / engine mount
    - ECS/Porsche 993TT Calipers in red
    - 13.2" drilled/slotted rotors
    - Hawk HPS Brake Pads

    and to be installed asap:

    - Supaloy control arms & caster bushings kit
    - 18x9 et45 VR G2 wheels

    and then:

    - Milltek DP
    - intercooler
    - recaros

    -----------------

.. and previously as a blank canvas

(ps. I think my previous free image hosting has fallen off a cliff, so some of the pics that I've posted throughout this thread aren't showing btw )

yeah they always do a cut or 'paint correction' before applying any paint protection, which brings the paint back to better than as delivered anyway .. so nah, not high on my priority list this time : )

I nearly wet my pants when i saw those wheels on the black car. Should go well with the black wagon. Still prefer the oettingers though. What car is it that? The wheels look and sound expensive.

                  Congrats!

Wheels do look hot, thats for sure! Plans always go out the window, I wasn't going to touch the skoda...then decided that I needed detailing gear to keep it nice...1k+ went out the window...then I decided that she was quick, but could be quicker...got her tuned...then decided that the wheels are nice, but it needs nicer ones!

So it's easy to get carried away isn't it! I'm trying to tell myself "that will do for now" lol
                  MY10 Occy vRS \\ GIAC Flash Tune \\ 19" VMR v713 \\ It's a Skoda. Honest.

hehe ; ) .. no idea what the car is .. tho I'm sure someone more familiar with jdm than I am will know. I still like the Oettingers a lot but think I prefer the mesh style a little more. They're a bit over $2k, but that's the fantastic thing about leasing - having extra goodies built into a lease from the start comes in handy! : D

thanks .. dealer hasn't given me the vin yet, but he 'claims' that it's still on the boat and only 2-6 weeks away .. once I get the vin of course I'll look her up on the tracking site

thanks dru .. yeah but thought I'd at least try to setup some kind of semi-structured plan so that each modification can (hopefully) be done while keeping the final stage in mind ie. stage 3 tune specs. I spose my aim is not to modify then have to upgrade previous mods in order to cope with other newer mods ... but I guess time will tell how that theory goes ; )

1k on detailing gear is a good effort!!

.. so I went and checked out ontherun motorsports this arvo and spoke to Ken? and he was extremely helpful .. said that they'll have to put in an order for the wheels and then wait for the batch to be made, and after that they'd get shipped over to Oz with the rest of their gear - I think they might be worth the wait?

here's my (fairly dodgy) attempt to photoshop a black RS wagon with the Homura's ..

I prefer a concave-type wheel .. these are sort of? concave I spose but still my fav's so far.

Dude, could be my eyes but there Convex rims, the opposite of Concave.

Not a fan personally, anything that protrudes from the wheel reminds me of a hubcaps

Plus your even more exposed to gutter rash!
