60,000km service

Moss Vale quoted me $600 for the $60k which was $350 cheaper than Campbelltown - for exactly the same work package.

30k is halfway between 15/45 & 60k

When I bought the car in Moss Vale on the 22nd, we were quoted $600 for the 'major' services (30,000, 60,000, etc) and around $350 or something for the 'intermittent' (15,000, 45,000, etc)
Don't know if that helps.

If you do end up going there, let me know... I can't afford to drive anywhere else, even with the diesel RS's 4L/100km. :p

Well I recently had the 30000 service which came to 350, so not bad if that's a major one

Majors are around $600, but the 60k is a special one. I've been quoted $800 for years at Richmond so the $900 is new, I asked a month back and it was still $800 but thats with a manual RS petrol. The big killer is the 4yr service for my TFSI which is $1200 on top of that $900 as I will be bang on 60k at the same time.......all because of the timing belt which went 4 mths later....

The prices might actually be right.... If you have the DSG models. Skoda in launceston stated its between 600-700 just to change the transmission oil. Luckily I have a manual!!

I take mine to an indepentant mechanic who doesn t have a pimply faced, ham fisted ,couldn t give a 5h1t, appretice doing the work, simply to get the log book stamped. Soon as the warranty expires there is nothing there that the average person cant do.

Latest price from same dealer after some discussion is $765 - except the cost of the parts has increased ~30% over previous visits.

Regional dealer an hour down the road (we have an office near there) has quoted $630 straight off the bat.

I hate this current trend in Sydney (other capitals too?) where they quote a big price & hope you don't notice.

You may well find that as the brand is becoming more established a more regimented regieme is being put in place.

Any time I questioned the pricing, Skoda HQ said they leave pricing up to the dealers and don't suggest anything. From the wild stabs in the dark various dealers do for the services, I'd say that is pretty likely.

That is BS about Skoda setting prices, they stay right out of it. And in fact if anything, don't step in when they should.

If they are anything like most of the other European cars that's quite normal.
The Euro manufacturers work differently to the Japanese. Rather than saying that a for example 15k service should take 2 hours labour they just say that a 15k service should be charged out at $xx. That way the customer does not go into the dealership and start looking at the bill and say, "you took how long to change the doofer?" instead they just get an invoice that says $xx parts, $xx labour.
It's quite conceivable that Skoda give their dealers a list a parts required for each type of service and a labour charge that should be applied to that service. Obviously the dealer is legally free to charge what they want but the reality is that they generally follow the party line fairly closely.

The factory assumption is that vehicles travel 15,000km per year so a 60,000 km service is at the end of year 4. If you didn't specially advise them of what has been done in the last twelve months they will have just quoted for a standard service based on age/mileage so I think in that case their quote is probably reasonable. If you advised them about the brake fluid and pollen filter and they quoted them anyway they are dills.

I told 'em.. They don't want to listen...... to the point where the service advisor is still insisting it will probably have to be done as "it wears out because of heat". FFS, my brakes still have 7mm of material after 55,000km (which they also know), how much heat do they think I'm putting in there?

It's been quite an interesting conversation - she also told me they had undercharged me for the last 3 services which is why this one seems so expensive. The other doozy was when she told me that Skoda set all the times & prices whereas all the previous services, they told me that Skoda won't give them any advice on times.

Moss Vale or Blacktown are looking better all the time.
