They don't seem to check what exact model that people have at Richmond despite being almost the longest running dealer in Victoria and therefore should be seeing the later out of warranty servicing more than anyone. I had to repeatedly chase up with SKoda/VW as they kept telling me that my belt needed changing at 50k/4 yrs when all it needed was an inspection. In the end they still didn't do that.

I also queried if the wiper blades were OK as they kept smearing even when cleaned and it said they had checked them. Vito said they would have and it was listed that they did. Blades kept smearing and upon replacing them recently the problem is gone. Weird that they had a chance at replacing something and didn't.

I'm still debating whether to get the driver seat heater looked at and was thinking of seeing whether Volkspower want a crack at it.

the dsg7 is sealed, hence lifetime.
the dsg6 requires a change every 60,000kms.

its a shame, and a worry, that richmand skoda do not know what version of dsg a particular car has, even more so that they're servicing the car incorrectly!!!

So with 90k on the clock now i decided to get my 2008 TDI VRS serviced elsewhere, and decided on Volkspower based on great feedback on here.

One thing i did notice is after going through my service log book i realised that my DSG oil was NOT changed at my 60k service.
I followed this up twice in the past with Richmond and was told both times, it didn't need one as it had "lifetime oil"

I spoke to a VW technician who confirmed that the DSG oil WAS supposed to be changed as i had a 6 speed DSG.

I spoke with Richmond Skoda not long ago and they finally agreed that it was supposed to have been changed and have agreed to do it at no cost. ALTHOUGH, they are now saying the filter doesn't need to be changed, only the oil.

I really feel like i'm getting the run around and have lost trust in them.

I would dtrongly suggest that if you have a 6speed DSG that you check that the oil and filter has been changed

From memory novated lease servicing can be quite different to normal servicing, usually a lot cheaper if there is some kind of deal going, and obviously doesn't pay GST, so I'm guessing your service was probably over 1k in total.

Mine is a preFL petrol manual, but as it has the belts its a mystery now as to when they deal with that.

My car is a novated lease car so I didn't see the actual invoice. They offered me a copy but I said no - didn't mind as long as it was the $900 as quoted. I'll ask the dealer to email me the invoice tomorrow. Cheers

Kiwi, dont think all wheel specialist know what they're doing, some have no freakin idea. The initial time i wanted my Skoda wheel alignment done, most of them I rang around said " what kind of car" and others were quoting the old Skoda specs. The Audi/Skoda dealership here has a new gucci some german built think that is very frekan accurate. After chatting with the service crew about the alignment specs and what I used the car for etc, we came up with a very good set up, and it's one that's made the crappy Dunlops last to 60K with a good amount of spirited driving.

Mysticality - The service centre I go to does the same, except I get the loan car free of charge.

Loaner cars are $0.35/km.

It's not a loan car then its a rental albeit a reasonably cheap one.

Richmond have been telling me $800 for years, and as it will be 4 yrs as well,

Mine will be around 30 months old. I'll probably pull the front wheels and check the brake pads and disc measurements myself before I take it in where ever it ends up going. I'm always wary about the phone call that says "you need brakes" without any follow up proof that they were on or near the wear limits. Often those calls seem to be made because the service schedule says so not what the actual condition of the vehicle is.

BTW: I would be reluctant to use any car dealership to do wheel alignments, they aren't wheel specialists. You will quite possibly find that all they do is subbie it out to their friendly tyre place and charge you a margin for the privilege.

My cousin the VW and now Audi mechanic reckons if they do the belt to do the water pump as well.

Had my Ocy RS TDi DSG in for it's 60k service at Richmond Skoda last week and it was $900. Changing the DSG oil adds @ $250.

Rang Essendon Skoda & Lance Dixon prior and they wanted $950.

Interesting to see what you get charged K1W1 with a manual TDi.

Dead right there. Even a timing belt is pretty easy with a couple of cheap tools off ebay. Can be done within a day. Only problem is you don't get the service stamp.

I'm guessing now the economy has slowed (and new car sales) they need to charge more for the servicing to keep going.

Quoted a total of $1130 for a 60k service on a VRS TDI with DSG - Filter changes include engine oil, DSG oil, fuel & pollen filters, Oils include engine, DSG ($256 for 6litres), and brake fluid. Coolant change, the usual service checks and 4 wheel alignment as well ( getting new tyres fitted the same day ). I think it's 440 in labour costs, need to double check the quote.

I have been using Auto Union Deutch Independent in Oakleigh, melbourne for about 5 years, and they provide excellent service on AUDI, VW, and Skoda. I had a quote for a timing belt on a 1.8T from the dealer in excess of $1800, Auto Union was about $1100? for belt change and full service.

No I dont work for them, I have just had really good service for my car from them. My next car will be a vRS tdi, and will go to them as well.
