Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Moving onto my 3rd T4 Van, syncro this time!

I have been a member of this forum since 2009 when I bought my 2nd T4 van.

My first T4 van was '02 9 seater auto window van 'KOMBI' I bought new for service at a Liqour store and short wine tours of the Hunter Valley. I sold it a couple of years later with 38,000 Km on the clock and it was trouble free. It did not hold its value!

My 2nd T4 van was a '96 manual window van with 196,000 on the clock. It came with after market seats/belts (which I onsold). It did good service as a tradie van (2 seater barn door) I sold it with ~230,000 on the clock after my daughter was born. A few minor issues on the way but very reliable during my 6 years of ownership. I needed something I could fit a child seat into. An '03 Hilux dual cab 2x4 became my daily drive.

I really missed being able to throw a motorbike in the back etc etc. So I am soon to take possession of a '99 T4 syncro 2.5 petrol 8 seat window van with ~160,000 on the clock. I am excited! I look forward to the odd weekend away and just the general usability of a van. I play with motorbikes, my mates are sick of me borrowing their trailers!! I have been doing lots of syncro T4 research. This forum is a great resource.
