G'day all.
Picked up a very tidy silver MY07 Touareg twin-turbo V10 TDi on 10 Jul with 98,000 on the clock. What a great ride.
I'd been 'car camping' out of my 2002 BMW 735iL Facelift Individual. I suspect that it's the only 735iL with Anderson connectors front and rear
so I've stepped up to some comfort while car camping.
The Touareg came with towbar, wiring and roof rails, no fully sized spare and three badly kerbed rims. It also gonged me on the trip home SYD-CBR for low fuel additive
The LHS wing mirror won't actuate, the windscreen washers don't work and all wiper blades need to be replaced. - all up, no big deal. It's booked in for a 100,000 service this week.
I ordered Rhino Racks, new rims - VERTINI MAGIC 19X8.5 (original is 9", but I've done the math and the corner sensors should behave) - and will mount the un-kerbed rim and tyre at the rear. The new tyres are Conti 4x4 SportContact, three for four, disposal, fitting and balancing and four wheel thrust alignment at $1537.
I'll also replace both batteries with Varta Silvers - the rear starter with a 600402083, 100 Ah, 830 CCA and the front with a 610402092, 110 Ah and 920 CCA (it's just a dimension thing).
Booked in at HPF Dandenong for a flash tune, and should see 273 rwKW (360 Hp) and 813 Nm of tractive effort.
It likes to drink fuel, 100l tank and about 850 Km highway and 760 Km city. The low-level fuel gong comes on with 25l left in the tank.
In Sports Mode the rear tyres can be spun from stationary, and the front gets nervously light (it lifts) up to about 80 Km/h.
The brakes are awesome Brembos. The handling is first class for such a large vehicle.
Everything opens and shuts, folds, lifts and heats.
I'm still working stuff out but the CD selection is clunky and Bluetooth connected phone has first class duplex. I miss a sunroof and the rear legroom of the 735iL.
Well, that's about it for a newbie post.
Cheers,
Stu
