Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi guys,

I have been on this forum for a while trying to get a better idea if I should take the plunge and make my first VW purchase.

Between here, reading magazines, watching heaps of youtube reviews and clips, I have decided to go for it and put a deposit down for the Mk 7 Golf R. Apparently because the dealer was able to source it in another state they are getting here asap and I could have it within a week.

I am going for the white with the povo pack (if you can call it that as it nearly comes with everything anyway) so no leather, no sunroof and no driver assist.

Reading a lot of the post has been a wealth of information and I hope to gain a lot more knowledge of the car and how I can make it a better drive.

This will be my 2nd turbo car coming from a Mazda 3 MPS and before that just a lot of V6's. Whilst the MPS provide a lot of kick in the back power, I found the R to be so smooth in it's delivery of power and that is one of the reasons I am going for it. I had also test driven the Subaru WRX STI which seemed really nice until I took the Golf out. I was also considering the S3 which is beautiful but the because of the price difference it was a no brainer.

I live in Sydney's west and as I have mainly stuck to the MK 7 R posts I am not sure if you guys organise cruises, but it would be good to meet up with some of the other members on here.

Anyway, hope to be able to contribute more once I get delivery of the new beast.

    Thanks guys.
Working...
