Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    G'day Guys and Gals,

I just bought a 2004 Transporter T5 1.9 diesel. It's going to be my new work van, Just started my own business as a handyman. The van only has 124,000 kms on it so I figure she should last me quite a while. It's got engine prefix number of AXB, from what I have figured out this is the 77Kw motor.

When I bought the car central locking didn't work and the guy that I bought it from said something along the lines it was working before he went camping that weekend and that is was probably just a fuse. He said that if it is anything more major he is happy to refund me the money of the costs. Anyway, I've spent hours on the web trying to find out the location of the fuse for the central locking, but to no avail. So I checked every fuse, and boy there are a lot, the first one I pulled which I think was 24 in C holder was blown, but every other fuse was fine.

My question is where is the fuse for central locking? The light next to the drivers door lock doesn't lightup of flash, key also only opens the drivers door. Should I strip the fabric tape off the wires under the drivers seat and look for corrosion on the blue/red joint.

Anyway help would be greatly appreciate.

    Thanks guys,
    Richard
