Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Greetings!

Greetings all! Have just paid the deposit on a 1975 B1 Sedan, hope to do the 2000km round trip next month to collect it. Have grown up in a Ford fanatic family, had a few but never really had the passion. Have worked in car dealerships since leaving school 14 years ago (I'm in spare parts), but wasn't until working for VW that I started to really love a brand of car. This admittedly is my 1st VW, but am feeling quite excited. Have been viewing other members B1's and that has also added to my enthuiasm. I love the engine/gearbox layout in them (I am a sucker for things that are a little different to the norm), and have always wanted and older car to have as a weekend toy. This car apparently has very good paint, body and interior, and has a lot of period accessories on it. Yes, I've taken a punt and bought it sight unseen, but the photos seem to be accurate. Mechanically it needs a few minor things, mainly due to being dry stored in a shed for a while, but that suits me - I'm fairly good with mechanical repairs, suck at panel beating.

I'll post photos when I pick it up, so I'll have to keep you all in suspense for now! Just wanted to join the site and make my presence known for now.
