2011 VW gti polo - have seen the numerous posts about high oil consumption and in 18000 Kms have used 6ltrs. It appeared to be getting worse, So friendly visit to the dealers for a planned oil consumption test revealed a hairline crack in the sump. Have no idea how this could have happened as there is plastic sump shield that covers the hole sump and is not scrapped and yet there is a clear crack on the sump. Guess what..... not covered under warranty and an $1800 repair. Anyone else had sump related issues. This followed very closely to the last issue which was the delaminaton of the clutch plates which was a warranty repair. Love the car but not very reliable............
