Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi guys,

I think I am supposed to introduce myself in this section, so here it goes, My name is John, I have owned VW's all my life, on and off, my first ever car was a VW beetle I think a 1976 jubillee edition, which served me well to go back and forth to work in my early apprentice days as a maintenance fitter/turner in Wales.

I started of in Australia with a T25 Caravelle quite a few years back. Turned this in to a self build campervan and spent many years enjoying travelling around the country my wife and I. After a very close encounter with a Kangaroo one late evening just out of Lithgow, where the radiator was destroyed, was towed home and rebuilt the engine, but was never happy with the power of the wasserboxer and bought a Subaru turbo engine on ebay. I would never choose a turbo engine again, too many issues to sort out. Thank heavens for forums, I would never have been able to do it without a lot of help from forums.

My recent ride is a T5 transporter, again converted to a campervan, but now much more economical.
But my biggest dillema now is this DPF. My van had 197,000 when bought and runs fine but after getting used to it and understanding the van more, I realise there is issues, of which I would like to try and sort out here.

Hope this is not too much intro, but it did say to introduce myself, now lets get down to the serious stuff lol.

    Cheers

    John
