Owned a number of VW variants over the years but limited at the moment to a T4 transporter (SWB 2.0 petrol) that is effectively a work van but which I like to keep in good shape. The car is basically standard with a set of wheels and upgraded springs and shocks, so it gets down the road quite well in my view.
I often think that it would be nice to upgrade it mechanically, but since it is in daily use, I am not in any hurry to tempt fate as the kilometers are getting up there (230,000).
All in all, its a pleasant drive, particulatly with the lowered and stiffened suspension and I am keen to keep it going as long as I can. Got some issues at the moment with (I think) the map sensor which I intend to post a query about in the appropriate place, but apart from that, it 'ticks most of my boxes'.
