Hi,
I'm a newbie with a 2008 2L FSi EOS, just over 105KKms on the clock.
I have a small pool of engine oil on the top of my gearbox. It seems to come from the the area of the pump fitted to the end of the camshaft. Not sure if this is an air pump or a vacuum pump, but it has a flat cover plate and 5 Torx screws, with an O ring gasket.
(OK after a bit of web browsing my first thought was correct, its a vacuum pump primarily for the brake servo)
The gasket is easy to replace, but what is the function of the pump and should it contain so much oil?
I have seen a lot on these forums about high oil consumption, just wonder if this pump is blowing into the inlet manifold then that might be where it is all going, nothing to do with rings/bore wear etc etc.
Thoughts comments anybody? Thanks!
