Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Newb Intro..

    Hey hows it going,

Name's Luke and just thought i would throw up an intro thread and say hello.

VWs are a pretty new thing to me, ive been into Japanese imports since i knew what cars were. At the moment i own a '98 Nissan 180SX Type X, but as things go, ive currently lost my license and ive decided to sell the 180 (PM me if you or anyone you know might be interested!) and move onto something new. Which is where VW comes into the picture..

I dont know how i stumbled across them, but once i saw both the MK2 and MK3 Golfs i knew thats where i wanted to head once i move on from the 180. I was originally going to buy just a cheap sh*tty Carolla to get me to and from work, but im a car enthusiast and need something to keep me sane so the little Carolla went straight out the door.

So yeah, i dont get my license back until the end of September so im just doing my best to find out about my next possible car. I have a bad habit of jumping into things to quickly and then asking questions. So i know so far that if im chasing a MK3 to make sure the heater coil and timing chain has been sorted! In saying that, i wouldnt mind a little MK2 on its arse with a set of BBSs or Equips or Longchamps or 'insert phat wheel make here' in a good offset. Im pretty much over the whole having a powerful car thing, so now i just want to have a nice looking cruiser as my daily. I was looking at a VR6, but it would get me into trouble again and i cant afford that.

Anyways, like i said, im here to learn and im all ears.

    Thanks,

    Luke
