My wife bought her Mk3 Golf 5-6 years ago and it opened my eyes to the VW world, especially the Bora V6. Was looking at turbo 4s (EVO/WRX) but insurance was turning me off. Then seeing how much my wife loved her Mk3 I started researching VWs, particularly the R32 and Bora. For the price the Mk 5 R32 was out of range and the Mk4 only being 2 door knocked it out too so it came down to the Bora. Performance equal to anything else for the same price and insurance similar to a 2.0l Golf, it's fully loaded as well.
So 2 and a bit years ago found a Bora V6 4motion, in navy blue. It's still pretty stock standard and I'll probably keep it that way, I like the sleeper look it has. Surprised quite a few 6 & 8cyl Fords and Holdens over the last few years. Might look at some minor personalising with a change of the standard 16" wheels.
Just thinking about it this isn't my first VW. When i was growing up my uncle had a farm and my Dad bought an old Beetle for my brother and I to drive around the farm in. As it turns out he didn't end up buying it, the night before he went to pay for it, someone caved in the roof, so the guy selling it said just take it. Got it home and whacked the roof from inside and couldn't tell the difference. Good little car.
Well that's a brief look at my VW story, look forward to reading yours.
