Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA Newbie - Mk VI 2.0 TDI

Hi, Just signed up for a 2.0 TDI today. I've been a diesel fanatic for years (last year was the 100th anniversary of Dr Rudolph's disappearance in the English Channel) and have made the transition back to the light side. (Previous experience Mercedes 190D, Pajero 2.8 and 3.4, LandRover TD5 (current - meets full approval of She Who Must be Obeyed (SWMO)) plus a few other, sundry, diesels along the way). I came across the VWWatercooled site whilst doing the research and was heartened by the DIY servicing tips and intrigued by a recent discussion (argument?) about engine oils and the change frequency thereof. Hope to get more servicing tips - I have a passionate dislike of stealerships and their propensity for removing large amounts of money from the unsuspecting public, especially when the mechanics, sorry, "Technicians" are paid only a pittance for being treated like c**p and put under enourmous pressures to achieve productivity levels which will achieve the performance bonus measures of their management. Venting over, for the time being.
