Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi Folks.First post today but have been an avid reader of posts since buying my car about a month ago.Just bought a 2002 mk4 GTI.Totally stock and well looked after from all accounts.
85k on clock which is pretty good.Absolutely love the solid and safe way it seems to drive.
Question if I may.As i,m sure most MK4er,s have already mentioned it really takes a bit to get going.I,ve never owned a turbo car before so by no means an expert but seem to get mild turbo effect from about 2.5 to 4k.
Looking at a stage one APR but wish there was a way it didn,t need to be soldered to ecu??.Also can I leave rest of car stock (clutch etc) but still improve performance without damaging engine.Any advice greatly appreciated
