Hi everyone!
My name's Danny, and I am a LONG time admirer of all things Golf, however I feel it is time to take the plunge and buy one. My current vehicle which I have owned since new is a Clio Renaultsport 182 Cup in silver with stripes and some go fast-louder bits which I have accumulated otherwise it has been kept stock. Love the car, but it has been nearly 4 years now so I think it is time for the Frog to retire. It's been the best car I've ever had so far. Before that was a Mk6 Ford Fiesta Zetec which I bought before the advent of the XR4, even so, it was a great car too. Im a Project Manager for a family business so our other two vehicles are 2010 Model utes for work - an FPV F6 Ute, and a XR6 Turbo Ute (which is my daily work car). Both compellingly boring to drive in 6 speed auto, however amazing in a straight line, it just does not make up for how crap the handling is, however as we needed sedan based utes, It was Ford or Holden unfortunately, and the Ford's got our tick. They are quite nice for what they are however.
Anyway here's my current ride.

I'll do the usual and say what a wonderful forum this seems, for the past week I have been addicted to the Golf R impressions thread, and have been gaining a wealth of info on what I hope to be my next vehicle elected unopposed; A MY11 Golf R. Hopefully in White. At the moment I have been quoted $59k inc onroads (My11 White manual 3DR, Leather, Roof, Sat nav, MDI, Bluetooth) which I have checked against that fantastic spreadsheet that you guys have devised which tells me that the non discount price is around $65k so I am wondering if $59k is good, or may they be able to do better than this?
Anyway, My main dilemma at the moment is to whether I buy a DSG or a Manual. I drove a DSG for a short 20 minutes at the dealer, and loved it, however I am not sure whether or not this was novelty factor! Love the performance figures of the R and double love the figures of the APR tuned R's.
Now, the 0-100 Figure of the Golf R here is 5.9 seconds. Now I believe MOTOR ran one at 5.36 s. Is this true? are the R's running better times in real life than what Dub is claiming? This is fantastic if true.
Anyway, looking forward to hopefully becoming an owner very soon
I will be driving Manual R come this tuesday, so I will be able to decide then
Hope I have not bored the pants off anyone!
Cheers all
