Hello,

I am a newb to this site but have had a number of VAG cars in the past (audi, skoda, B5 wagon) and this is my second 3BC (B5.5) Passat Wagon.
My ride is a 2004 TDI PD Trendline with a 96Kw 5 sp manual 4 cyl AWX engine and AFAIK the only one if its kind in VIC. Would love to know if there is another similar one floating around.
Extras and Mods; Tinted Glass, US towbar (Aussie electrics) with detachable towball, Retrofit colour coded rear parking sensors, Nokia CK7-W Bluetooth and a fudged (silent CD) MP3 AUX input integrated with the stock Double DIN GAMMA stereo (single CD).
I do my own servicing including the brakes and had the following issues that I resolved myself; CV joint rebuild, radiator replacement, Central locking repairs to rear doors, front window regulator clip repairs (to an earlier B5 Passat Wagon), Front and rear rotors and pads replacement. The stealer did the cambelt replacement not long ago due to my lack of diesel cam locking tools and time.
BTW The car comes with a stock LongLife service option (oil sensor in the oil pan and instrument cluster enabled for this), which was not an option on the aussie import but can possibly be retro-fitted. If anyone wants to use the car as a stock reference for the retro-fit, I'll be pleased to help.
I have an elcheapo VAG com style USB cable and a VW tool which does not go much further than clearing the DTCs and doing some basic adaptations, but nevertheless very useful. (EGR offset, Auto lock/unlock, alarm chirp, single press all door unlock and, of course, the Uber - Keewl German alarm siren!)
I am very interested in the FOB remote window rollup/down and the needle illumination cluster mod (DTE already enabled on my MFA) and have read sashET’s excellent work with interest. I would love some help with this if possible.
Happy to share my experiences and resources to help other VAGheads with mods or maintenance, although I know little about the gassers, my last gasser was dead and buried in 1998. Had diesels (mainly VAG) ever since and never looked back!
Hope to get an invite to a Melbourne get together soon!
Great site, keep up the good work guys!
Type soon!
